A new month is upon us and with it a new theme, March Radness. I’m not certain where the next thirty days of the month are going to lead us, but I sure as all get out know where it begins day one, with birthday wishes and a solid showing of Rad-itude to the Duke of Radtown Abbey, Roger Daltrey. Were it not for his birth 68 years ago, there would not be a cinematic gem of a rock opera, Tommy, in existence today. Pete Townsend’s story and score weave Tommy through a veritable Rock & Roll Hall of Fame journey that includes Eric Clapton, Tina Turner, and Elton John as the Pinball Wizard. And finally, if you are ever on the fence about your sexuality, just watch Ann-Margaret in this film. She will decidedly help you figure out which team you play for when you see her in what I can only describe as “The Bean Scene.” A totally rad scene in a rad film with ridiculously radical artists.
